OrthoCanada obtains Zero Carbon Building certification by Canada Green Building Council
Gatineau, Québec, July 20, 2023
Dear valued customers and partners
OrthoCanada is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Zero Carbon Building - BCZ-Performance certification by the Canada Green Building Council (www.cagbc.org). CAGBC's Zero Carbon Building standards are a made-in-Canada framework that makes carbon the new measure of building innovation. This certification recognizes OrthoCanada's commitment to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in its operations.
The Zero Carbon Building certification is a rigorous standard that requires organizations to measure, report, and reduce their carbon emissions to zero. OrthoCanada has demonstrated its commitment to sustainability by investing in renewable energy, implementing energy-efficient technologies, and adopting sustainable practices in its operations.
Located in Gatineau, Québec, OrthoCanada's headquarters comprises 1675 square metres. With a focus on its carbon footprint and social responsibility, OrthoCanada implemented a sustainable development strategy that includes the health and well-being of its employees, the infrastructure it utilizes, and its supply chain.
The project team included property manager Investissement Bombardier, A4 Architecture, Design au carré/D2, Larouche Campeau et Associés/LCA, Systèmes Énergie TST, SVM Orthopedic Solutions, Les Bâtiments Kalad'art, and the Conseil régional de l'environnement et du développement durable de l'Outaouais.
“By demonstrating zero carbon performance annually, OrthoCanada is a true climate leader,” said Mark Hutchinson, Vice President of Green Building Programs and Innovation at CAGBC. “CAGBC congratulates OrthoCanada for achieving Zero Carbon Building – Performance certification. This achievement validates that zero carbon buildings are technically and financially feasible for owners who are willing to innovate and invest in a low carbon future for Canada.”
